“National Telephone Discount Lifeline Awareness Week” to benefit 25 million Americans

“There are 5 million people in a America, who still do not have a phone,” explained Lauren H. Kravetz, Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, Federal Communications Commission. Kravetz also notes that only 32 percent of 25 million low income consumers who qualify actually apply for phone service discounts.

Sacramento, CA - NARUC, the Federal Communications Commission, and the National Association of State Utility Consumer Advocates are designating September 13-19 -the first week after Labor Day - as “National Telephone Discount Lifeline Awareness Week.”

Kravetz was in Sacramento to present the national education campaign Lifeline Awareness Week to the National Assn. Regulatory Utility Commissioners.
